m. vie Make Up Press Kit

portfolio

The press kit was created to promote the m. vie make up line created by Midnight Velvet. These printed pieces were sent out with samples, a CD of how-to videos and tip cards. It was distributed to contacts at beauty magazines and publications, as well as television shows. I directed the photography, laid out the media pieces and assembled the final project.

Montgomery Wards Catalog Layouts

portfolio

Page layouts in the catalog environment are far more involved than simply organizing pictures on the page. While the Montgomery Ward catalog is a bit more utilitarian in its design, it was still important to ensure the layout was both easy to shop and incorporated enough density to ensure profitability goals. Additionally, as a nostalgic and established brand, it was equally important to ensure the continuity of the Montgomery Wards legacy.

Midnight Velvet Catalog Layouts

portfolio

Midnight Velvet is a dream based catalog that looks to bring the customer into a fantasy life that was not only desirous, but also within the customers reach. Photography and layout for this brand was intended to evoke a feeling of luxury and opulance. Ensuring a cohesive brand focus through multiple sections and multiple catalogs each year was essential to ensure the customer was receiving a perpetual experience.

Founder’s Day

portfolio

An array of materials was created to support a series of Founder’s Day events targeted to alumni, employees and students of University of Wisconsin-Stout. Materials included invitations, programs, signage, and a life-sized cutout of the founder, James H. Stout. Old photos, etchings and signatures were used to incorporate nostalgia. Two color printing was used to keep the project within budget while maintaining the nostalgic look.

Photography Art Direction (Fashion)

portfolio

Directing photography for fashion and accessories requires a very specific set of skills. Including model selection to selecting just the right background and lighting, fashion shots must be styled perfectly and laid out to best highlight the product being presented. Attention to detail is also pivotal to make sure the correct piece is in the correct shot. I have worked on locations, including California, Florida, Arizona and Chicago, and with many skilled fashion photographers, stylists and art directors. My photo direction credits include Montgomery Ward, Midnight Velvet and Ginny’s.

Devil Love Story Cards

portfolio

The Stout Alumni Association wanted to engage couples that had met at the University of Wisconsin-Stout through a card campaign. Using a play on words regarding the university mascot (Blue Devil) this piece was part of a multi-year campaign and was used to connect with recent and past alumni, as well as for financial solicitation. Digital printing was used to personalize the pieces with the names of the couple to create a personal connection.

Photography Art Direction (Home and Outdoor)

Directing photography for home and outdoor requires the ability to step into the mind of the customer and create an image that conveys a feeling of allure. Including selecting just the right background, lighting and angle; product shots must be styled perfectly and laid out to best highlight the product being presented. Attention to detail is also pivotal to make sure the correct piece is in the correct shot. My photo direction credits include Montgomery Ward, Midnight Velvet and Ginny’s.

Brodhead Memorial Public Library

portfolio

The Brodhead Memorial Public Library was looking for a new logo and style guide. The library had been using an image of their new building and they wanted something that was different. The new logo is inspired by a concept of Crystal the Assistant Director. It incorporates books in the form of a flower and the rain gardens on the property. The font is traditional to play off the slight modern elements of the logo. The colors of the pallet are bright and colorful.
